From Autoblog:
Honda has big plans for its next generation hybrid, with annual worldwide sales expected to be in the neighborhood of 200,000 – half of which are destined to find homes in the garages of North American consumers.

Unlike the Civic Hybrid which has put a very small dent in the Prius' success, the new model will only be available with a hybrid system and is rumored to take its styling cues from the FCX fuel-cell vehicle set to begin production next year (http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/24/honda-confirms-production-fcx-and-car-based-on-cr-z-concept/). This new model will be joined by another hybrid based off the CR-Z concept (http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/24/tokyo-motor-show-honda-strike-cr-x-strike-cr-z-concept/)that debuted in Tokyo. When are these guys gonna get smart and make a real series hybrid that runs just on an electric motor?

I think they tell you what you really want... then convince you that you really want it... then as a last resort delay in giving you what you wanted to begin with. They are driven by profit not by sales... New Car Sales is the small part of the automotive industry.
