Rog,
I really LOVE the Skywalker vtol. I think this is actually doable if they have the money to get it approved and on the market. I am going to keep an eye on that company. Thanks for the link!

By the time they perfect one of those, I'll be too old to fly one lol. I like the skywalker, but please tell me they're not selling them in kit form!

Actually, those all look like a really good way to earn a Darwin Award, but I must confess I'm one of those seatbelt-wearing speed-limit-observing types...

Hey, thanks for this link. I actually know both people involved in making these rocket-belts. My book "The Amazing Rocket-Belt" and my other book "Airwalker:A Date with Destiny!" were purchased by these people. The person in Mexico actually had some choice words about me. If you go to Amazon.com and look for my books, you will see that he left a message about one of them....not too flattering!
Anyway, the rocket belt is really NOT a practical device. It is a GREAT device for using as a business venture. Doing shows, halftime at the superbowl, special events, and things of that nature. A person can make a good living doing that. Back about 10 years ago, Kenny Gibson was asking around $10,000 for a single 30 second flight. That's a lot of money for 30 seconds!
The "Jet Pack" that was developed by Williams International under contract for the army, had far better capabilities. It had a potential flight duration of around an hour, and that was back in the 1960's! Can you imagine what technology they have come up with since then? But, its like a lot of other things, I think the government put the "lid" on this technology. I just don't think they want average joe six pack flying around in a personal jet pack. I am NOT a "conspiracy wacko", but this just makes since from all of the research I have done on this over the past 20 years.

Hi folks,
While it was a real shame when one of the stunt crew on the new Bond film got hurt, and I hope his injuries are not too serious...I bet the effect a VV would have in terms of providing a spectacular visual experience and a safe way of delivering would be incredible.
Many of us have envisioned a V-1 with rocket launchers, radar, etc. What a gas it would be to see one tricked-out for a Bond film. I can hear Q now lol!

Imagine being able to drive a car for the equivalent of 80 cents a gallon instead of paying $4.00 a gallon for gas. That's what the Cincinnati developers of a new kind of electric car called the Monomobile or "Liberator Car" say their prototype vehicle can do.
On Thursday, developers showed off their one-seat monomobile at Hyde Park Square and even drove the small electric car around the block for 9News.
The Liberator Car uses battery power for short hops around town but switches to an electrified overhead track for longer travel along interstate type roads.
The electricity from the track powers the car's battery allowing the car to operate automatically while computers tell it which exit to take off the highway.
The Cincinnati inventors of the Liberator Car, Jay Andress and Andy Webster, say their invention combines the best of all worlds with the convenience of a clean, affordable and safe private car with the advantages of public transportation.
The pair are now looking for investors to get the necessary $10 million to build a one-mile test track in Clermont County.

Sorry but a 4cyl Subaru engine doing 400-500hp is not my idea of a reliable aircraft engine. You need to de-rate an engine from it's max to make it safe/reliable for aviation use. If this thing were to be a serious avation machine they need a 700hp turboshaft that is de-rated to 500hp to make sense. But then cost, fuel, maintenance all go out of reach for most people.
