This article talks about some initial, note initial, testing done on several battery types. I thought it was interesting and hopefully will be for other enthusiasts.

Nice find ziggy!

One of the BIG problems....lead is HEAVY!! And weight is a big factor in vehicle performance and efficiency. Wonder how this new technology 'weighs in' if you do something like... volts/amps per Pound per Hour per Recharge???

Rog, since these new approaches replace either half or all of the negative lead electrode with carbon, they should weigh less than regular batteries. How much less remains to be seen.

Of course, that's just comparing the weight battery-to-battery. If these new batteries can store more power, then it would take less of them for any given range, which would certainly affect the overall vehicle weight compared to other lead-acid batteries.

The question is, how much do these weigh in comparison to Li-ion batteries for any given power/range, and what's the difference in cost? If they weigh 50% more than Li-ion, but cost 50% less, that could still work.
