View Full Version : Vehicle Voice Survey

Hello! If you are on the Venture Vehicle email list, you most likely received an email form Vehicle Voice. They were taking a survey on VV's behalf on various aspects of the V1.
If you can, I need somebody to COPY that survey and post it to this forum. I think it would be interesting to see the results. Thanks.
Derwin
Derwin, I'm not sure how you get on their mailing list. They have my address; I had to use it to register. I also pre-registered for a V-1 when I joined. I don't remember seeing anywhere to get on their mailing list.

Wow. I don't know. I just gave them my information when I joined the forum. They also have my information from personal communications, but I know this has nothing to do with the survey. Here is a copy of the email I received:
To get started you can either go directly to the survey or to your Home Page at VehicleVoice and select the "A New Idea in Motoring" survey. Your email address is your Login ID: dbeushausen@gmail.com
Use this link to go directly to the survey: http://www.vehiclevoice.com/index.php?sid=182
Use this link to go to your Home Page at VehicleVoice: http://www.vehiclevoice.com/user_home.php
Thank you in advance for your help and for your continued support!
Sincerely,
Venture Vehicles
You have received this email from VehicleVoice because you pre-registered at FlyTheRoad.com. Venture Vehicles appreciates your interest and we look forward to your continued support.
Thanks Derwin! Survey completed!:)
I suppose this means my pre-registration didn't go through.... but, I entered the same e-mail addy I gave to register at the forum, and it not only gave me the survey, but knew my name, so maybe it did.
I agree with Micah over in the FRT forum. It keeps getting slower, more expensive, and less exciting with every update. Now, 0-60 in 5 secs is completely off the table... and even at 7 secs, now the mileage is down to 75 MPG.
Pretty soon it won't be able to outrun a Buick Super running on 4 cylinders!

Yeah, I agree with you, but I don't really care much about a few seconds longer. I guess they must be running into problems meeting the original stats. This MUST mean they are getting closer and closer. Heck, man, I just want one of these. I would buy a Carver if this thing were not coming out. The biggest thing that would turn me COMPLETELY off would be if they could not reach the 100mpg or get pretty darn close.
What does the Carver get? I never did research that out.
Derwin
I think the Carver gets around 50 MPG... but there's no way I'd pay $40,000+ for one.
But the thing that pisses me off is that they're nowhere near the promises they made originally. My mama always told me... "don't make promises you can't keep." To which my dad added "and don't make threats you can't back up." I wonder what Ian's parents told him????????

Well, maybe they were just "overanxious" and excited about this thing. I am sure they thought they could do what they promised, but now when the "rubber hits the road", they are finding they have to scale back a little on their original specs.
Man, the Carver only gets 50mpg? I thought it got a lot more. Your right, I would NEVER pay $40,000 for that vehicle.
Hey, I just bought my first official FlyTheRoad item from their store. A brand new FTR keychain. Now all I need is the car!
Derwin
I'll buy a keychain when I have a V-1 key to put on it.;)
And it doesn't matter what they "thought" they could do. You don't put it in writing and blab it all over the internet until you *know* what you can do.

Patience, everyone...
Live Tomorrow lyrics
By : Chalk Farm
time stands still for no one
i'm behind again
i push and still i see
i'm getting nowhere quick
i'm staying late
again
worlds turn in the time
i catch another breath
i know a little more will
surely do the trick
i can't delay
no i can't be late
i can't take the time
but i plan to when i'm done
i can't waste the day
nothing ventured nothing
i don't think it's wise
to be idle when you're young
oh i have to go
i'll have time to live tomorrow
take a message for me
tell the wife i'm sorry
deadline's almost here
and there'll be more recitals
anyway there are bills to pay
i can't take the time
but i plan to when i'm done
i can't waste the day
nothing ventured nothing
i don't think it's wise
to be idle when you're young
oh i have to go
i'll have time to live tomorrow
i have to go
angels spread my wings
and see the fences tumble
ageless memories
they watch the strong man crumble at my feet
what is this i see
i can't take the time
but i plan to when i'm done
i can't waste the day
nothing ventured nothing
i don't think it's wise
to be idle when you're young
oh i have to go
i'll have time to live tomorrow
i have to go
I have patience... I know how long it takes a pizza to bake and I don't mind the wait. But I don't have much stomach for people who change their story every time you open the book. We should start taking bets on what the next update will be. Just to make it interesting.

Interesting survey. I didn't get an invitation either, but it accepted my e-mail address and I completed it anyway! I encourage everyone to participate.
Got to put in my two cents about replacing a car, not a motorcycle, and needing comfortable passenger space. Regarding the 0-60 stuff, there's one dangerous T intersection I hit every day where I need to jump out in traffic. That made acceleration important enough that I'd sacrifice some fuel mileage. Hell, 70 mpg is still more than three times what I get now.
The designs looked similar to designs C and D from FlyTheRoad, but more generic. I said I liked design "B" better, even though it looks closer to what we know as D. The reason is that it was clearly longer with more space in back. But it bothered me that I didn't think a windshield wiper could cover that expanse of glass appropriately.

It would be nice to know how many people 'actually' reply to the survey, and what their final results will be. Seems like there is much more 'detail' on the FTR forum (if someone reads the posts), but at least NOW it seems like Vv is interested in quantifying the data.
We should start taking bets on what the next update will be. Just to make it interesting.
How about: "Very busy....Working hard.....Good things happening....Finalizing design concepts......Opened FTR.com store.....Sent out new E-survey.........More later." :p
Sound about right?=y:
Yup rog lol. I'll just add "Working hard on the new name for the V-1..... hope to have the final choices for you to look at by the next update..."

Found the survey invitation in my spam bucket.

Single wiper can cover a lot of windshield .. plus with good aerodynamics a lot of water will just get blown off.
Lots of people lurk forums but don't ever say anything and some are more prone to give their opinions and answer things in a survey that keeps their direct response confidential.

I never saw the survey email, probably got spam filtered by my ISP.
However, I followed the link and answered the questions.

Just finished filing it out - hopefully they'll cut some spurious adjectives out of the marketing speak...
I'd like to see an anonymous aggregate of the survey answers... Any idea if this might get published?
Mark Tomlinson

Agreed about the adjectives. I made a few comments about the wordiness of it myself. They wanted to know if the copy fit the "personality" of the V1. Hell no! The copy sounded like a geek (takes one to know one) describing an iPhone.
"A 3-wheeled plug-in hybrid or full electric vehicle." Woo hoo! That sounds sporty. [Insert sarcastic smiley of your choice]. And why point out that it leans up to 45 degrees? To the uninitiated, that just sounds scary. To those of us who know better, that implies rounding a corner at an extremely high speed.
They'd be better off if they got a real marketing guy to describe the sensation of driving the thing and the experience of owning it rather than spewing raw technical facts.

Just as a refresher the CarverOne only gets
Fuel consumption (estimated average) 6 L/100km (1:16 - 45 UK mpg - 40 US mpg)***That is a whopping 40mpg*** That is 7-12mpg less than an "1800 Gold Wing" And IMO the Carver sounds like a sewing machine gone wild.=y:
Here is the link for the info and specs: http://www.carver-worldwide.com/SubItem/SubItem.asp?S_ID=33&nc=1
Edited: to split post up to proper categories.;)
I dunno how Carver sells *any* of these at the price they ask for them. I'm sure it's fun to drive, but so's an MX-5... and what else could you compare an MX-5 to and call it roomy?

RAIN-X is God. Windshield wipers who needs Windshield wipers where we are going we don't need them. Dr. E. Brown rocks

oh god no !!!!! I hate rain-x that crap always left a film on my windshields that would make all the lights have a star effect!!! OMG I hate that!
AZEqualizer
11-29-2007, 03:04 PM
Part of having a good rain-x coating is buffing it good at the end of the application. They have a new coating that is used at the place that does my windshield replacement that sheds water and treats the windshield so it is more rock resistant. And it does work... had some rocks go zinging off my wifes car windshield with out a ding ... sounded like a movie ricochet.

Well maybe they fixed the problem since I last used it but ten years ago it didn't matter how much I buffed that crap always left the star effect!
That reminds me of after I had RK surgery on my eyes lol. I had the Star Effect at night for a couple weeks.

I only use Rain-X on my motorcycle helmet not on the Ranger. That's what wipers are for.

Back to the survey for a moment;
I have some familiarity with survey companies - fringe stuff, some freelance work, it doesn't qualify me as any kind of expert. But what I have learned is that survey companies combine concepts, putting competing ideas in one design or another. This survey came up with two concepts that resembled stuff we've seen, but differed in some ways. They then asked what we liked and disliked about each.
The idea is not to pick one design or another. The idea is to find out what we're interested in. The eventual design won't resemble either, but will have the most favorable aspects of each while dismissing the least favorable aspects - within limits, of course.
What strikes me as odd is that Ian showed us two designs before the survey was released. I would have expected the survey months ago so it could provide input to the design team. But it takes time to do a survey right, so maybe the designs we saw were just evolutions of the designs that were given to the survey company.

I have participated in many surveys with a couple different companies and have noted a lot of the same things you did Mark. But the V model A and B looked like a more advanced rendition. Of course the photos are small so it is hard to be sure and sometimes our imagination takes over... could be an earlier version. Either way you have some very good observations... food for thought.
The biggest point that I see is that it is a survey for direction and how hard to push, what the limits are and not a Black and White -this is going to be the new V1
