There is a Wikipedia entry out there for the Venture One, but it is woefully out of date and incomplete. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venture_one

Lets get in there and pump it up some.

The entry can use some history of the vehicle. The partner list is outdated. Each paragraph can be expanded into a section of it's own. And the specifications read like the vehicle is already being manufactured. There should be a section on design considerations, such as aerodynamics and safety. Would you believe that the entry doesn't even mention that the vehicle tilts? Ian, if your reading this, someone from Venture could supply official artwork. I'm thinking that a fan club reference wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Remember, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia - not advertising material (although pumping up it's Wikipedia entry would help with Google searches). So don't put in a lot of hyperbole and speculation. Just the facts.

Lots and lots of facts.

Hey Mark,
I just went over to wikipedia and add a link to the club site under external links!

Derwin,
I am sure it can be done. Wikipedia is edited by people like you and me, but before I would post anything other our link I would ask Ian for permission especially when it comes to logos and the images of the updated design concepts.

I am having my design company work on a new club logo, and it will be complete soon. I thought it would be nice to have our new club logo on the site as a reference.

Yes the guy who originally started the post on Wikipedea is a FTR member and had asked and gotten permission from Ian to post quite sometime ago. I think it would be a good idea to get VV's permission as a courtesy thing before we update.... other than Club info.

We have to have Ian's permission for graphics. Wikipedia even asks about the license of any image files before they are posted. And Wikipedia Bureaucrats and Sysops will take the graphic down if they don't like your answer.

However, the rest of it is fair game. That's what makes Wikipedia so good. If someone wants to write that they originally promised prototypes in September 2007, but have delayed to 2008 - that's fair game even if Venture Vehicles doesn't like it.

While we might want to tell Ian that we're posting to Wikipedia, permission isn't needed nor probably even expected. I would spin it as, "Ian, we're going to be keeping an eye on your Wikipedia entry to make sure it stays accurate."

Also, Wikipedia doesn't like 'Vanity' entries, when an author creates an entry about himself. So Ian really shouldn't be involved with the content, that's our job as fans & 3rd party observers. We need his permission for images only, but I suspect that won't be hard to get.

Added a ref list, DVC tech, and licensing from Carver. Not sure why the tilting wasn't in the article earlier, that's the main appeal of the vehicle, I think.
