The Automotive X Prize, known as the AXP, the competition will award at
least $10 million to the team that builds a 100-mpg machine and then wins a race against other green vehicles. Some 43 teams are already working on their rides, even though the competition won't be formally announced until early 2008. A qualifying race in 2009 will serve as a proof-of-concept shakedown, and then, in 2010, the remaining squads will go after the big money.

Also there is another little video of the Aptera there... and if you listen closely you can hear what an electric vehicle (other than the tesla roadster) sounds like.

Even though my wife thinks it looks funny she would be more likely to ride in this because of the side-by-side seating and better cargo room.

For me it's a real toss up. More room or tilting... more room or tilting...

I kind of like this car, but what are they asking for it? Also, when is the projected release date of this vehicle?

Aptera's Super-MPG Electric Typ-1 e: Exclusive Video Test Drive (http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/new_cars/4237853.html?page=1)

Ben Stewart in his Popular mechanics article - writes about two Aptera models that are almost production-ready at $30,000 and below: for next year, get ready for the all-electric, 120-mile-range Typ-1 e (this is what Stewart drove); then, by 2009, look for the range-extended gasoline hybrid Typ-1 h, which Aptera says will hit 300 mpg.
