I just got my "Fly The Road Club" coffee mugs. They're BEAUTIFUL! Thanks, Derwin. Out with the old chipped and tarnished mugs and in with the new.
I firmly believe that Venture One will benefit from the "soft sell" we generate at a grass roots level. Raising the awareness of projects like these will help them get to market, and flourish once they arrive. Public acceptance to alternative forms of transportation is of paramount importance!
Do your part today by getting your "Fly The Road Club" coffee mugs. I bought two; one for home and one for work. I expect to kindle a few conversations at the coffee station. Hey, word-of-mouth is cheap, but effective advertising! It's a simple means of spreading the word.
What's better than a FTRC mug? A mug FULL of java!

And unlike anything you order from the other Flytheroad site, you'll receive your mug(s) in just a few short days, instead of weeks! ;)

Yup, still waiting on items I ordered 8 weeks ago, have emailed ... nothing. Most un-professional.

Thanks for the compliments! =D The reason that I can get the mugs out to you IMMEDIATELY, is because I actually have them made and ready to ship. As soon as somebody tells me they want 1 or 2, I just slap the label on, and ship it out by way of USPS Priority Mail. For some strange reason, I think Venture Vehicles is using an outside firm to handle their orders.
I have a few very nice water bottles coming in from a contact I have in China. I am going to make sure that they are great quality, and then have a whole batch of them shipped to me, and then have the club logo applied. I think it would be a great item to have, and if you guys are tired of coffee-mugs, than you may get use out of these. Anyway, I'll keep you all updated.

Yes, I know Ian is using an outside firm ... Just wish he would tell them to respond or they lose the contract.
Will be waiting for the water bottles :)

OK CF, That desk has gotta get some clutter on it. Although in my minds eye I can see a mountain of clutter just outside of the staged pic camera range!
Crap, Now I gotta go clean my desk...:(

Dude, you're absolutely right! I moved a bunch of crap out of the way to snag that pic.
Still, I do like a clean work surface. My last desk was pathetic; it was a tiny computer workstation. This desk is much better. I've got tons of room. Unfortunately, as you would suspect, it often becomes a catch-all for all kinds of clutter.
I've been thinking of getting one of those Fly The Road caps. Are you guys saying they're slow in delivery? They seemed to have an abundance of them at the New York auto show!

Hello! I was thinking of getting some hats made up with the club logo, as well as other merchandise, but I did not want to go "crazy" with this!
Also, I think our club logo needs to be updated. What do YOU think? Do you think the club logo is fine as it is, or do you think that the vehicle should be updated to more represent the current design direction? Usually logo's don't need to be an EXACT replica, especially when it is a club like ours, but I would like some input from all you guys.
I added a poll to this thread. Please vote early, and vote often.....You have to remember, I live in the CHICAGO area! ;)

How's about black T-shirts with "Where's my Flying Car??" on the back (in yellow) and the club logo on the front left pocket...
I'd want a couple of those...

I think the logo is fine but I would say get rid of that pink tone in it! Make it more of a yellow. That's my two cents! Other then that the design looks great!

Hmmmm. The club logo does not have ANY pink or yellow in it. The ONLY colors in the logo are various shades of green, blue and grey. Maybe your screen is showing strange colors, I don't know. Did you get a coffee mug? If you did, you will see that there is absolutely no pink in the logo.
Does anybody else see pink in the logo? Just wondering.

The swoosh to me has kind of a pinkish tone to it! Maybe it me, maybe I am going color blind! I think it would look better with a yellow swoosh anyway. It seems a lot of people on this sight like the yellow colored V1 so add yellow to the swoosh! Like I said just my opinion!

I think the logo is fine as is, but if the V1 changes drastically in profile before hitting the market, it wouldn't hurt "updating" it. However, I cannot imagine it will change much, if at all from it's current configuration. And people get the idea, based on your logo.
I just see green and blue in the logo. No pink. Maybe your monitor needs calibration. Happened to my old PC at work. They go bad slowly, so you don't realize it's out of whack until someone else mentions it, or until you get a new one!

Derwin, the swoosh background definately has a sort of greyish fushia or slightly purplish
color. I wouldn't call it pink, but a pale violet is what I am seeing under full spectrum
lights. I voted for updating the logo.....maybe amongst the group we could come up with
something a little more....I dunno, futuristic? Bold? Hotter colors? Bigger V1, smaller text?
Just some ideas....

First off, my first post, so I want to say a big thanks to everyone (Derwin et al.) who've poured so much time & passion into this site. A fantastic way to learn about a fantastic vehicle!
I think I know what MiracleMan89 was seeing - the logo on the coffee cup in CelticFlyer's picture seemed to have a purple tinge to it. Was it just the lighting for that shot, or is it the way the image was printed on the mug?
Since we're talking about ways to get the word out...
I wish Vv would make 1:18 die-cast models of the VentureOne & sell them in their store. Showing people a model they can hold in their hand (and the tilt would work, of course) would certainly help spread the excitement. Not really holding out hope for this, of course: cost would probably be north of $50/model, and if doing this meant diverting someone off R&D of the VentureOne to coordinate with the model factory, I'd say FORGET IT. Stay focused on the real goal of getting VentureOne on the streets!

Waboom! Howzit! Welcome to the club! :) I have a mug in my hands and it certainly has
a slight violet greyish tint in the swoosh....not that there's anything wrong with that!
Still, can't help thinking we could do a little better, for what its worth. I might sketch up
a sample of what I think might work....
I definately like the idea of a model, in fact if I had a little more info (station sections)
I would probably build one myself at 1/5 scale. Like as if I have nothing but time on my hands!

Waboom ... Welcome to the club! Stick your pin in the map yet?
Grabbed my mug and it certainly has a violet tint in the swoosh under florescent light.
I'd like to see the V1 more prominent in the logo.
Also would love to have a model once the final shape is settled.

Why stop there? How 'bout a RC V1? That would be cool. Especially if it would tilt when you drove it in a hard turn!
I'd easily pay $50 for that. =y:
Hey, now that you mention it, the shadow effect behind the logo on my mug does look a little lilac. In printing terms it would be "Pantone 250 C." However, the blue and green are still the dominant colors in use.

Derwin and Friends, I have a nearly completed logo design on my drawing table....
It may be more appropriate for an embroidered patch application. It isn't "camera ready"
art work, but could be made so by someone with those skills....look for it in a couple of days!

Post your preliminary drawings before putting anymore work into it. Then we can decide if it's what we want to go with, and take it to the next level.
Thanks.

Howzit CF! Thanks for the offer to photo shop this POTENTIAL design. It is certainly going to be much easier for you to try out a variety of color schemes, smooth fades and blends, etc. than for me with my colored pencils. I don't , however, do "rough sketches"
and submit them to scrutiny before I have a pretty complete concept. Design by comittee can produce some pretty bland stuff. That being said, I am open to ideas and
opinions and actually work well with suggested directions. Anyway, please understand that I am in no way attached to having MY work be THE logo. This is just an exercise
in creativity for my own amusement. Sort of like the mini sub project where I just wanted to see what would come out of my nexus of experience. If you don't try, you'll
never know!

Lamborghini has a golden bull in a triangular sheild. Ferrari has a rearing black stallion in a tall triangular sheild. Cadillac uses a hearldic coat of arms sheild.
Even Venture Vehicles has a triangular "sheild " logo. Using this as a starting point I developed a sheild based on an arrowhead form. It is one of mankind's earliest flying tools, but this one is electrified, carrying us into the future of transportation.....That is supposed to be a golden V1. The type style for "Fly The Road Club" is "Magneto" which is pretty appropriate. If there were a by-line I would have it say "Curves Ahead!" Don't know how or if we can use this, and I don't even know if we can keep the V V logo. Again, this was just for fun and for the general enjoyment of the group. Maybe it would be better as a poster than an actual "logo". In fact I'll probably take it to Kinkos and
blow it way up! Might also work as an embroidered patch for sewing on ball caps, jacket shoulders, etc.
Derwin, please forward this to Ian and Howard in the spirit of a ThankYou for
the inspiration they have brought to us thus far.

As mush as I like it I don't think we can use the triangle at the bottom! That is a VV trademark! It kind of reminds me of a police badge! lol
cpaddock
04-16-2008, 10:04 AM
It would be easy enough to change the VV logo to a "Curves Ahead" caution sign.

Outstanding work, cpaddock! ;)
I like both versions, but as MiracleMan said, we might be treading on thin ice with regard to use of the Venture Vehicles corporate identity. Besides, the squiggly road sign is much more appropriate!
I definitely think this is a great design, if not for a logo, in the very least for use on the FTRC splash page.

Ya, I like it, But Derwin a while ago put the FLY THE ROAD website logo to motion. I really liked that.

Howzit Rpeek2! Please understand that my offering is not intended to replace the FTRC
logo. It is not really a "logo" at all. More like a poster or tee shirt graphic. Logos are typically simpler, basic colors, symbolic images. Not containing realistic renderings. Not wishing to step on anyone's toes here. Derwin opened the door to update his logo
but so far nothing seems to be forthcoming.
That is just fine! There is nothing wrong with the logo as it is. What happened to the
"in motion" logo? I never saw it.

My .02, As a bowhunter and a classic motorcycle collector..I love the new design. Great work...
This is a very talented group of individuals... I only hope Ian feels free to call on any of us if he needs to..
I too would love to volunteer any assistance I could. I am especially looking forward to the " Race" from NYC to the west coast.. Hopefully coming near western NY...

Hey John,
As it gets close to race time, I'm sure we will be putting together a support group across the country =D Cheering fans etc. Many have already stated they would be willing to "go for coffee" or what ever. I've volunteered my motorhome and fully stocked race trailer as a support/chase vehicle.
Looking forward to the race!! ;)
