I've been thinking about what I want to do to make my V1 different and my own. I don't think I own anything that I have not tinkered with and modified in some way, so the first thing I'm going to do is order a scissor door kit and convert the door from standard opening to 90 degree scissor (unless Ian has done it for me already that is...I think one of the drawbacks to the carver design is the standard door - ruining the ability to get in and out of narrow places where I'll undoubtedly be parking)
The hardware costs about $800 for the kit - and since it is for a standard car it would do two doors. I'll bet one hinge assembly could be ordered for half that cost.
For those who have no idea what a scissor door is: http://scissor-doors.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=90

I don't know what my first mod will be, but my second mod will be a motorcycle engine making up to 200hp or more possibly.

The gull-wing door approach has been addressed before, but I don't know whether or not it's going to find it's way onto the first V1, or if ever. I'd like to see it; it would look cool and fit well with the vehicle's design. BTW, I'm pretty sure they're only going to have the one door, on the driver's left side.

Haaaaa, just like me. Hayabusa motor should fit nicely.:RADAR:
My first mods will be done immediately: tinted windows 35% all around, powder coat the rims gloss or flat black, paint the side orange reflector. It will look like this. After that, who knows...depends on what is available. I may make some parts and become a vendor if I feel up to it. I am interested in increasing the acceleration to the originally stated 5 seconds to 60, or better, but don't know when/if that will be an option.

Once these are prevelent, about three or four years after the initial release, I foresee someone coming out with a kit to install a busa motor in it, similar to what one foreign company did with the smart. The kit gives you everything....frame w/mounting points, drive shaft conversion.....etc.. I can't wait to have one of these that flies, but hopefully venture will make one from the factory that has some umph too!!!!!

Maybe I'll put one of those tall flags on it, like the ones you see on dune buggies and quads... make it easier to see ;)

Ian has mentioned a limited edition gas sport version that would also be used in a racing series.

Myfirst mod would be to remove the rear seat and dog-proof the area by means of some sort of harness restraint system. My canine companion is on constant dog alert and flips out when she spots one! Plus she needs her own seat belt so as not to become a 35 lb
projectile in a quick stop!

My first mod would have to be accessing the onboard computer system and see what sort of add-ons I could write for it!

You know - that could be a very interesting project. Kinda like the guys who "chip" their trucks for maximum power, acceleration or fuel economy. It would be fun to play around and see just how many MPG you could get by limiting acceleration and tweaking curves in the program.

^^Or how much acceleration you could get.:)

"Tuning" the car would certainly be cool, and if there was a way to access that through the computer system I'd love to open it up so people could try tweaking the settings. But I was more trying to see if I could just open the system up in general, to allow myself (or others) to access sensors not normally displayed, or add features to the unit. For example: if they stick a USB port on the dash so you can plug in your mp3 player or charge your phone, add in a USB HID interface so you could plug in a usb keyboard to easily type in labels for radio stations, like you can on an Xbox 360. If they have built-in garage door opener buttons, design & install a "remote learning wizard" module so you don't have to drag out the manual every time you do it (let's see... hold down the button for how long... and should that light flash fast or slow????) Or allow the user to display the electric engine's RPM (really officer, the dashboard said I was only doing 925!) Or make it so it dynamically shows how much power the whole car is drawing off the battery (crank the radio and watch it climb!)
LAZERS!!! Oh oh, and guns too...LOTS of guns!!!

A custom paint job is definately on the agenda....something HOT like Celtics last color choice rendering.....and Wet Okole seat covers, ocean camo pattern. www.ruffriders.com
has seatbelt/harnesses for our canine co-tilters. It will be interesting to see how she (my dog) adapts to the lean, because she is so used to anticipating the corners and leaning into them....
