View Full Version : Anyone thought about the front tire?

it seems that the front tire with its amount of leaning the tire gets it will have a lot of tire wear. Do the carvers in europe run special tires that have more tire compound on the sides?
has this been brought up lately?

enough new posts for me :)
I hope that living in california, being a science teacher, having a commute that is up and over a 2,000 foot mountain every day, and freeway mileage I get to be one of the first batch of vehicles :)

I think this was addressed at one point on the official website's forums. Here's a link back to the forums there with the one that Ian posted in on:

http://flytheroad.com/blog/forums/topic.php?id=328&replies=25

The general consensus is that the front will be a motorcycle tire due to the cornering aspects while the rear wheels will be standard car tires. Ian mentioned talking with Michelin about the Tweel for the VentureOne, but I think it's still up in the air on the definites.

the website at that place is up and down.
lag issues the last few days.
and the search function via yahoo or google leaves much to be desired.
This place needs to be a store house of information for enthusiasts to use and discuss. Why mess the official website, to me that place is more for announcements and other official information.
This place should be for enthusiasts to gather and talk with less restrictions and worry of offending the owners.

I can't imagine it would wear any more than any other motorcycle tire. Tweel's would be really cool in the back! Those things are so cool - and no flats to worry about!

I wish they could use a different front tire, as regular MC front tires don't last that long, but with the tilting and leaning I haven't heard of anything other than a Tweel that would work.

Aside from the fact they never go flat, I like the color options. Your wheels could match your ride!

Now that is way cool - I had only seen the Tweel's that replace a standard car tire - not those that look more like a motorcycle tire. The colored rings are cool also, and different from the one piece spoked affair I saw in previous pictures.

Where did you find those tires? That looks like a web site I need to check out.

I'm not sure. I Googled "tweel" at one point, and found a link to a link to a link... I'll post it if I can successfully retrace my steps.

Pretty wild stuff, eh? ;)

If you put wild stuff in a new vehicle it does the following.
1. makes it more expensive
2. Adds possiblity of more things going wrong (to me simpler is better)
3. Adds to the elitness factor and if you want full acceptance then that needs to be avoided.

if you really want a vehicle to be accepted into the mainstream and get many units on the road simpler is better.

I wish they didn't have the 120 mph version as it make it yet another elitist car like the carver is in europe.

4. if the above get true then you will see one of the big 3 auto makers in the US make a bare bones model and the venture one lose out in the end. or one of the big three buy venture one in the first year and mass produce them.

Here is the link to the tires, and a press release concerning them:

I guess this is a new product that Michelin is coming out with.

Thanks Derwin

I checked out the site. You know, now that I've had time to look at these tires, 1) i like the "airless" thing, but 2) not too crazy of color choices.
