Just got word today that vbulletin (the forum software we use) will be releasing an entirely new version soon.... not just a simple security patch! I'm really looking forward to the release because there are quite a few new things in it that would definitely be of use to us.

One of the major features in this overhaul will be the addition of a club photo gallery which will be built-in to the new software. I have heard that it is simply spectacular!

With this new software, each member will be able to customize their user information to a level never before expected. It will actually be like having your own little "my space" page in the club! I am REALLY excited about this, and can't wait until it is completely installed. The features of this new software are nothing short of incredible. As a club member, you will now have capabilities to do things that will keep this club site number one on your "must visit" list! Actually, I think you will make this site your internet "home" from now on.

Anywho - if you're interested at all, check this out: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249460

If anyone has any feedback, lemme know!

This upgrade will cost a little money, but it will definately be worth every penny! At the time I write this, we are at over 320 members, and I expect the club membership to grow into the thousands as time goes by. This software with all the new and exciting features will prepare us for this growth. Not sure when it'll happen though. I'll keep everyone posted.

Yep - gonna be cool! The DieselStop board I also hang out on is going to be doing the same upgrade.

Like I don't spend enough time on the net as it is....;)

Wow, pretty cool additions there, Derwin. You could practically create a Fly the Road Club MySpace, hehe. A big thanks for providing this site for all of us to get together.

Just wanted to bump this message up to let everybody know that we are now in the process of moving to a new server (again!), and getting the new site with the new features up and running.

Everything should be completed by Monday, and the new site will simply blow you away! I know it has me.

Thanks for your patience.

We've converted to 3.7 on the other forum I help manage. It has some nice features but we've not posted the new one to the members yet.

LOL! Yeah, you went AWOL on us for awhile! I was wondering why I didn't see you here.

I think your going to like the new site a whole lot. If you didn't already do it, go and click on the link I gave. It shows all of the new features the club will have. It's really awesome.

Derwin - Could you shed some light as to what it means by CA release only? In other words, those of us that don't live in CA will simply have to purchase the car remotely then ship it, or purchase in person and then drive it back? I just want to be clear that it's not that only residents of CA or something crazy like that can purchase the vehicle.

Thanks!

I just wanted to BUMP this thread up to again make all members aware of the new features that are available. Heck, you can now make yourself a personal "MySpace" page within the club!

Take a look at the link above, and PLEASE take advantage of these new features. =y:

When I click the "more" button at the bottom of the active threads page, I get:
Fatal error: Cannot use object of type vB_Session as array in /home/flythero/public_html/includes/block/topreferers.php on line 73

Seems to happen consistently with me, but only started after the upgrade.

Thanks for the heads up - I'm looking into it right now. Weird thing is this isn't happening on the other forum I manage - TrikkeTalk.com, so it's tough to pin-point the cause.

TO BE CONTINUED!....

Adam,

There seems to be a problem with the social groups. I created a social group, and then attempted to invite people. But I got the message that "they are not allowed to join a social group". But when I invited other adimins, it was fine.

What do you think the problem is with this?

That's a new one. Might be your social group settings in your admin area. Don't have time right at the moment to check it out, but I will in the next couple days or so. You may also want to hop on vbportal.com and ask them - they may be able to get you an answer to that sooner than I can.

Actually, the first thing that I did was go to the admin area, and I checked to make sure everybody was allowed to join social groups. But it still is not working.

I've done the same thing, searching both the social group settings and the usergroup permissions. Everything looks fine there.

I have a second log-in (for administrative purposes only; not for posting) which does not have administrative rights. I found that my Administer log in could not invite my non-Administrator log in to a group In fact, when I logged on using my non-Administrator log in Social Groups disappeared from my User Control Panel!

Google didn't turn up anything either. My hunch is that this is a database flag in each profile that needs to be updated. To test the theory, I'll delete my non-Administrator log in and recreate it this weekend. If my hunch is correct, the newly created log in will have Social Group permissions.

Nope.

Taking this discussion to the Admin forum.

I just wanted to remind everybody about all of the features available to you as a member of this club. In case you are not aware of them, you can check them out by following this link:

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249460

There is some really neat features that you can take advantage of here. Like starting your own "Social Group" and make it Private (Invite-only) or Public. You can create your own little photo galleries with various albums. And so many more ways to make this your own little internet home.

So, go check it out, and please take advantage of your membership. Remember....this is YOUR club! =y:

Hi Derwin,

Just loaded some photos into my album ... Is there a way to tell who else has loaded photos without going to every persons page?

There is - I installed it at http://trikketalk.com/vb/all_albums.php

Trouble is I can't for the life of me remember where I downloaded the hack! I'll look around. I think it's a pretty quick installation.
