Is anyone else concerned that the V1 may have issues with bottoming out on hils? (Driveways, steep hills, etc.). Years ago I owned an '88 Camaro, and this was a constant problem. Any thoughts?

We get torrential rains here occasionally, and so they put in traffic bump-style diversion
barriers at various driveway/parking lot entrances. Crossing these at an angle seems like
could present bottoming out and even tipping over potential. Just have to slow way down.....

I would say you have less chance of bottoming than most standard cars because of the short wheel base. Course a lot depends on the ground clearance they build in. Since it is narrower you can always take the ridge at an angle.

I'm positive that they have already thought about speed bump clearance, but it would be interesting to find out just what is the ground clearance of the VV. Can't be any worse than the Porsche 911 I used to own - the front airdam would scrape on just about everything...

Actually, it looks like when it is sitting upright, it has plenty of clearance for most on-road obsticales. And I don't think any of us would be foolish enough to be in a high lean and hitting speed-bumps.

Wooeee! Brings terrible image in my view!

As Ian's mentioned that the V1 driver will sit as high as a BMW M3 driver would, I imagine the ground clearance to be about the same, if not better to allow for the tilt. But as AKP23 mentioned, I wouldn't want to be going full tilt over a speed bump, especially over some of the ones in Austin, TX.

Well, Bottoming out is a possibility. A friend of mine use to own a Honda CRX that had a minimum ground clearance of 3 inches. Every time we hit a speed bump or a pot hole our sphincter muscles would tighten up! Now, I bought an Toyota MR2 with almost 4 inches of clearance, so I will be a bit nervous for a while but at least when the V1 comes to market I will be a bit more aware of ground clearance and what to watch for! :)

Measurements I took on a blowup of the X prize mockup gave me a ground clearance of ~ 5" .... for what that's worth.

That's an excellent question! I've been wondering about that myself, as my driveway is rather steep and has a very high crest on the transition. To make matters worse, I've got to make a hard left to get into the garage!

I hope I don't damage my ride. :o
