View Full Version : E-50/Q100 Question
It seems I read somewhere on the FTR forum that the E-50 and Q-100 would actually use the same wheel motors, and the performance difference would be a matter of software/programming and not hardware. I also read that the Q100 would be able to change to economy (E-50?) mode to increase mileage.
If this is true, then why even bother making 2 separate models, and why is the Q100 projected to be $2000 more if it doesn't have any more expensive equipment? I thought that maybe the Q100 had more batteries, but they both seem to have the same battery-only range of 20 miles.
Confused???? not me!!!

Good question. The only 'physical' differences that I can see would be the 'wheel sizes'; E-50 front 18", rear 15" ; Q100 front 19", rear 16". I'm not sure of the effect upon handling or performance, or if it is just for a 'sportier' look. Also some of the recent news articles keep mentioning only '2' models an EV and a hybrid. Perhaps from the 'preregistration' information, V.V. decided that two different hybrid models would NOT be the way to go, we will just have to wait for more official information as the project progresses. Or perhaps your question would be a good one for the "QUESTIONS FOR IAN" thread on the FTR forum.

You forgot about the cooling ...the Q100 has extra cooling for the Battery / drive system.

Yep, THAT is a 'biggie', especially for long trips; knew I selected the Q100 for a good reason. Thanks, AZE.

We discussed it earlier in the "FTR Forums" and found the e-50 would be more of a strip down version. The Q100 would be more of the slightly optioned version not to mention the liquid cooling and such.

If you look at the above image you will also see the Q100 would have at least a 20mph over the e50 as well as twice the output at 100Kw. Things may of changed by now but this is the info so far.

And a spoiler! The Q100 has a spoiler, so that's gotta mean it goes faster.
