A 1/12th scale Diecast quality display model would be nice for the desk.

I would like a Diecast V1 model that tilts! =y:

It would go nicely with my Diecast Chevy Volt!

The Volt Diecast was made in China by the May Cheong Group. The box also says: BBurago Internaional Inc Fontana, CA 92336, USA .

It would probably have to have some kind of spring system in order to return to it's upright position!

I think I would like to set it at an angle and have it hold ... so a snug (friction) or a click (racheting) system.

Or for a DESKTOP MODEL (non-RC), just enough friction to have it maintain whatever angle it is set at for display. I definately want to show off the 'tilting' ability (ie. FUN FACTOR)! (Ooops, looks like MVR beat me to it!)

As I see it, the RC and the Diecast or plastic display models are completely different projects. Probably not even the same scales ... I would think more about 1:14th scale resulting in about 10" overall length ... would fit nice on a shelf or desk top.

Yeah, your right about that. They are completely different projects. What files will I need to send the companies? Also, do you have any suggestions on what other specifications I should ask for? Like....should the diecast model be able to have various tilting positions? And, do we want it to have doors that open, and other little details like that?

As I recall from the thread, most folks wanted some type of ratchet or friction system so that it could be set at an angle and hold. From the color thread, seems the most popular color is silver.

As for other details - opening door and hatch would be nice, but we don't have any interior designs yet. Removable power pod cover would be nice, but again we have no designs for component layout yet. And I doubt Ian even has final yet. I would say we hold on the high end diecast at this point.

So, at this point perhaps we should just go for a cheaper plastic unit that tilts and rolls, has nice exterior details, but nothing opens.

Hey Derwin,
Know you've been busy, just wondering where we are with this project?
Thanks

"So Derwin, for the diecast or plastic model you would need to send both the old and new files. New for the latest (final) body shape and additional details & the old files for the tires/wheels as they are not included. I would also send a copy of the 360 3D."

I was going to ask YOU the same thing! I really have not had the time in recent days to do anything with the die-cast model yet. As I previously stated, I wanted to see what you come up with in the remote control vehicle first. This is the main project that we are all excited about.

LOL! The alpha really looks great. Have you given any thought into the shell, and how to attach it?

I have finally found a few sources that can make us a nice die cast model of the V1. But now what I need are the files that I should send them.

Does anybody know what files we should use in the creation of this model? I am thinking they will need the best possible files that we can come up with. If you know, please post links to the files in this thread. Thanks.

Well, I have some exciting news for club members. I just got off the phone with a company that is interested in producing a new die-cast model vehicle for us of the VentureOne.

This model V1 will be made of pewter, and will have incredible detail. We still have to discuss what size we will want it to be, as well as if we want it to have a little "tilting" action, and have spinning tires. Each option brings the price up a little more, but I think it would be incredibly amazing to own!

Just as a couple examples of what choices we have.....

We can go with a basic pewter model that has no movement at all...

Or we can go with a model that is very detailed, and has moving tires, tilts, etc..

So, lets all put our head together and decide what we want to create. Post your ideas to this thread. When we come to a consensus on the exact pewter model that we want, then I can pass that information on to the factory, and have them begin production. I have already sent them the IGES files that were supplied to me by Ian Bruce.

Also, on a side note, this same factory is going to be making a few club items for us made out of pewter and other materials with our club emblem. This should be pretty unique, and I should be posting actual sample products in a week or two.

This is pretty exiting, and I think we can really come up with some very cool things if we put our minds to it.

Thanks.

I think that letting us know approx size and price comparisons might give us a little more info to help us come up with suggestions.

AZE, the model can be a very simple 2 or 3 inch model that has very little detail, or it can be around 6 inches or larger with fine detail. The pricing all depends on the size and amount of detail that we want to go with, and I have no firm prices yet. The factory is still looking at the IGES files.

So, what we need is an idea of what the members think would be best, and what they would prefer.

I under stand the concept but I think it is easier to recomend something if we have a ball park price range.
For eample a 11" diecast replica for $95 might be reasonable for some but it would probably have a lot more people interested if it was $40 but a 2" one with only a little detail for $20 might turn people to the $40 one.

I'll try to get some numbers from the factory in the next few days. I would think that a nice detailed model is the best, but not if it is going to cost an arm and a leg!

Once they go over the IGES files, I think we'll be getting some good estimates.

I've got a small 2 1/4" pewter formula car that can also be a key chain fob.
So, a "matchbox" size might interest some folks.

For the larger (~ 8", ~ 1/14th scale), I would like to see - painted, door opening, interior detail, clear plastic windows, rubber tired, tilt capable - in the $100-$150 range.

Heh maybe I shouldn't show you this MV though it is only a 1/18 scale

Hey, AZE, those prices are pretty good. But they are prices based on a "wholesale" distributor. Also, these are made in such large quantities that the price is brought extremely low.

If we decide to go with a pewter model, it obviously will *not* be something made in large quantities. But instead will be an exclusive club product made in very small quantities. This, of course, makes the cost of producing them much higher.

Maybe we should create a poll to see what members think about this idea in the first place, and then how much they would be willing to pay for a pewter model of the VentureOne. This would then give us an idea of what direction to go in with this project....if to go forward with it at all.

yea I know I was just dangling something cool in front of MV.

When you get some ball park figures to hook to reality then I think we can vote.

=y: Hey AZE,
That is a sweet one for sure. I've got 1/18th scale diecasts of all the cars I've driven at Daytona with the exception of a Lola BK40 SRPII car. Would love to find one of those to complete my collection.

Derwin,
I copied five posts out of the RC thread that were in reference to the diecasts ... they integrated into this thread by date.
