I want to wish all FlyTheRoad Club members a very happy and safe Independence Day.

We all know why we celebrate this day, but I think in these days we live in we can give extra thanks for the blessings of Liberty that we all enjoy.

One of the blessings that I am looking forward to is our INDEPENDENCE from foreign oil, as well as freedom from these back-breaking fuel prices. On this 4th of July I am going to give special thanks for Venture Vehicles. They just may be what we need to gain this oil independence.

Again, have a very safe and happy holiday!

C'mon, RAN.... You should know that voting REPUBLICAN is the ONLY way to keep our freedoms alive! ;)

Let's all just have a great holiday, regardless of politics. =y:
(although I sure wish Illinois would make fireworks legal again!)

I have no intention of getting into a political debate in the pages of this forum, but people forget there are alternatives to the same lame leadership the two party system keeps belching our way every 4 years like the rancid smell of pepperoni breath. Since the "fair and balanced" media won't cover them, and there are still a few states that don't even put them on the ballot, my post was just a reminder.

If you keep voting for the same politicians, you're going to keep getting the same results. If you're tired of the same results......

Yeah, I know what you are saying. I actually sent money to Ross Perots campaign back in 1992! I was disgusted with GHWB, and thought a third party was the answer back then. But, RAN, I just don't see it happening to be perfectly honest with you. Hopefully some day a 3rd or 4th party will get a foothold, but I don't think it'll be in our life-times!.....But then again, who knows? If people get angry enough, it may just happen sooner than we think.

Hey....I'm outta here now! Heading off to my brothers house to celebrate our Liberty!

Awe, nuts! I didn't really want this to be a political thread. I was hoping we could celebrate this holiday without bringing politics into it. But I guess this day IS all about politics when it comes down to it. This country was indeed FOUNDED on political ideals which we celebrate over 200 years later. So, if fellow members want to put up the flag for their "guy" in this years election, then have at it! I guess it doesn't really hurt anything.

MM89....Just to set the record straight....I am not a "hard core" republican. Like I said...I actually sent money to Ross Perots campaign back in 1992. But then he went "nuts" shortly after that, and I withdrew my support! I am VERY close to the ideals of the Libertarian Party, and I do like SOME of the ideas floating around the democratic and republican parties.....But I don't like ANY of them 100%. I guess I am for WHATEVER party wants to keep our taxes low, cut spending across the board, cut the size of government drastically, keep involved in international affairs without being isolationists, and keep our military strong. Right now I just don't see ANY party fully supporting these views. It's the first time since I've been voting that I really don't like anybody on any ticket. As it is, I may vote for McCain while holding my nose......but then again I may not even vote at all......and this would be a first for me. I'm really dissolutioned with our choices right now.

Anyway, that's it for me. I'm getting out of this political talk. I tend to begin feeling ill when thinking or talking about it.

You all can feel free to debate the issues amongst yourselves if you wish. I figured that this IS a thread about celebrating our liberty, so if you want to express yourselves....feel free to do so.

Ha! You reminded me of the Simpsons episode where the two space aliens ended up being the Republican and Democratic candidates for president. In spite of the fact that they both intended to enslave and torture the American public, one of them was bound to win because no one wanted to "throw their vote away" on a third party.

Happy Independence Day to all. And to our European friends, aren't you glad we aren't your problem anymore?

Funny how most politics comes down to "how much is coming out of my wallet?" That and "don't let them queers get married!" (I'm gay, so it's okay for me to use the "Q" word.) I'm all for less government intrusion into our lives too, but some wire-tapping, war-mongering, water-boarding, megalomaniacs can't resist the urge to play God. Not mentioning any names here. Say, why don't we legislate some hate into our constitution just for grins?

Happy Friday, everyone! LOL =D

Ah, what the heck......I'm gonna jump back into this! =D

Not at all. That is just ONE concern that most people have, and it's a very important one.

That and "don't let them queers get married!" (I'm gay, so it's okay for me to use the "Q" word.)

Hmmmmm. I don't know really how to answer that one! Some people believe that there are very legitimate reasons for not allowing this, but I'm sure not going to make their arguments here! Oh, by the way, my dear uncle Bill was gay. He used to own a barber shop and pizzeria (what a combination!) here in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. He was an amazing man, and I considered him more of a FRIEND than an uncle. Just thought I would share that!

So, by virtue of exclusion, did you agree that our current administration is guilty of all of the above? Muhahahaha ;)

I'm sorry, it's just that I've seen more of our liberties being threatened if not outright squashed all in the name of "security" over the past few years. Honestly, you can do anything to people if you terrify them, and no one is better in scaring people into submission than the government. The media doesn't help. It offers nothing more than sensationalism and fear mongering.
