But most only come up with a NEV the glorified golf-cart. I saw this on Autobloggreen and figured I would share it's uglyness. Sunmotor, an electric vehicle hopeful based in Boston, plans to release its first product in America. It's solar and electric powered car with a top speed limited to to 25 miles per hour, a speed which Sunmotor claims can be reached in just over 5 seconds. Weighing in at 2,600 pounds, there is plenty of weight for the 10 horsepower motor to push around. The company believes it can get 160 miles per charge.
They obviously took design ques from the Smart Fortwo and made it really ... well see for yourself.

This is too weird. I agree with MM89 there is something seriously wrong with the front and back ends. Did Pontiac have anything to do with the design? It has traces of the Aztec in it.

And at only 25mph, people will have to look at it a looooooong time till its gone.
That flat roof (for the solar panel) would look much better (maybe) on a van or truck,.....can you say FUGLY?

Why do these people, that are trying to be innovative with fuel efficient vehicles, insist on making them look like clown cars???

There oughta be a law preventing such design travesties from ever seeing the light of
day! How does one argue its merits to a board of directors? "People will LOVE it! We
will sell millions of them!" Its a hybrid alright.....product of INBREEDING! My eyes!
My eyes! LMAO!

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder and these guys had to have been drunk! I mean come on it looks like something my 10 yr old would draw or something drawn on the back of a napkin and found in your pocket after a blackout. However, it is usually at that point you look at the napkin and think wt_ is this?

It looks like the Smart, but with wrong windscreen and rear.
At first glance I thought there was some rear window of a stationcar attached to a Smart, and then some sort of sporty spoiler to the back. But the total picture is too ugly to keep looking at.

The "Azadi," whose designer proposes a fold-out back seat to pack in passengers on India's crowded streets. And here I thought this was a design to see how ugly one can make a car... If the future of General Motors is reflected in the ambitions and attitudes of its summer design interns they aren't going to do a big turn around with designs like these.

And then we have 'The Standard Taxi' uses a rather traditional design with the engine placed up front, driving the rear wheels. Powertrain development work is being jointly carried out with GM. A compressed natural gas version is also in the works with assistance from Clean Energy Fuels Corp., founded by T. Boone Pickens (http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/06/13/t-boone-pickens-continues-his-bad-energy-news-tour-wants-to-be/), who also has some investment in VPG. The cab is capable of carrying four passengers and all their belongings and is wheelchair ready.

Notice the aerodynamics of this brick.
Notice the aerodynamics of this brick.
It probably can't go fast enough for aerodynamics to be much of a factor :-{)]. Do they expect people to pay to ride in that ugly thing?

I think they got together with Lego's and built it with giant bricks. ;)
And the other one looks like he dreams of being a coach maker for the good fairy.
And now for something completely different. Craig Vetter's latest project -Starting with a 250cc Honda Helix, Vetter has adjusted the gearing and added full bodywork made from .035" polyethelene sheet plastic.

You know that probably wouldn't look so bad if he laid fiberglass resin over that, then painted it.
