What makes this so sad is the fact that the person who placed the sign thought they were doing the bike riders a favor.

After looking at the picture, I just couldn't figure out what your asking about. And then I noticed the bike lane on this highway, and the sign just telling car drivers to watch out for them. What's wrong with that? I guess I don't get it.

Heck, we don't have special lanes for bike riders here in Illinois. I think it would be great if EVERY state had special bike lanes.

So..... What are we supposed to be looking for?

There are bike lanes all over Sacramento, but they start and stop, requiring riders to either stay in the road or ride on the sidewalk. This isn't a problem, particularly around the capitol as the sidewalks are pretty wide and there are actually "BIKE ROUTE" signs that instruct riders to "Use Sidewalk."

When I took my California driver's test (the written part), one of the questions mentioned having to merge into the bike lane. I was like WTF is that? :confused:

The paint looks pretty fresh. I'm guessing it's a new bike lane, and the message sign is there to alert drivers to the new traffic pattern.
