In light of the most recent scandal with Full Of SH.. automotive I had an idea. How many of you feel you would make a good test driver for a V1? I propose you write a letter as if VV were going to give away the first ten vehicles and post it here as to why you feel you would make a good test driver for V1! In October I will start a new thread and get peoples opinions as to who they feel had the best chance! ( Note: this is just for the fun of it! So if you want to be creative and say you reside on one of the rings of Saturn or something, Go for it! Have fun!)

My submission:

As I have said before I live in rural Arizona, which is in a high mountain desert area. I can provide many different benefits to you as a test driver! One, I work for a police department so security of the vehicle will never be in question. Two, I am also attending college which gives me the educational experience to assist and write feedback in a method that would be concise and understandable. The area in which I live offers many different challenges. Because it is in a high mountain desert region, the weather here can range from 115 degrees to below freezing. The mountains provide added strain to a motor and/or engine as well as suspension. This is due to the amount of curves in the road to traverse the mountain range. My unique location plants me right at the base of the Coronado Trail, aka highway 191, one of America's top ten roads to travel by Car and Driver Magazine. One more benefit of having me test your vehicle is that I have been working on cars since I was very young and I am now 32 years old. If something does go wrong with this unique vehicle I could communicate with your mechanics and engineers as to what the problem is and give possible reasons for why the part failed. My commute to and from college is equivalent to a two hour drive. Another issue is due to the rural area I live in. I have to drive an hour to the nearest Wal-Mart to do any serious shopping and don't get me started about the two and a half hour drive to the nearest Best Buy!

By allowing me the privilege of being one of your test drivers, you also would be doing me a tremendous favor! Due to our extremely long commutes and the cost of gas these days, I have been forced to skip some of my classes on account of coming up short on cash. When your choice is whether to buy food for the kids or go to class, there really is no choice! I work for the police department as a 911 dispatcher and my wife works as a high school special education teacher. We both work very hard, but it is tough to make ends meet sometimes and this amazing vehicle you have created would offer us an unbelievable opportunity.

In addition to the above, every summer we travel to Illinois to visit our parents and family. This has become a real strain on our bank accounts thanks to the cost of gas. So by having a car like this would be one more area in which you could help us and by doing so I would be honored to return the favor!

I can test the long term stability and durability of any vehicle in a far shorter amount of time because of how hard I kick the ass of every vehicle I have ever owned. What would normally take years of dedicated research I can accomplish within 6 months, guaranteed. Not only do I drive my vehicles hard but I also take care of their maintenance in a similar fashion. None of my vehicles have ever had a mechanical breakdown related to lack of maintainance but due to wear indicative of long term usage. So far, the only one that has stood up under my punishment has been Subaru. Honda, Ford, Dodge, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, and Porsche have all failed in this respect. I have had repairs covered under warranty and I havent been denied any of these repairs because of "abuse". If I were required to drive in a more tame manner then I would assume that role but I would definitly take it on a track. I do have a child so its not like I drive around like a maniac. In fact my typical passenger would be my 3 year old son.

I have a background in automotive repair, tuning, and racing as well as a computer maintenance and security background. I have an Automotive Industry Management degree, thats a 4 year semi-vocational business degree by the way, and am now pursuing my Business Management degree with an emphasis in marketing. As soon as a reliable and inexpensive power supply becomes available I will convert my current vehicle to a full electric. I have torn down and rebuilt engines from many different manufacturers and have done minor and major modifications to all of these same engines. To say the least, I have a firm understanding of the mechanical and computerized systems in today's and yesterday's vehicles.

I live in southern Colorado and take many trips into the mountains and over the Continental Divide. Because of the vast differences in weather systems that I drive in, I could provide a wealth of data logging and troubleshooting information related to testing a vehicle. I could test it in climates ranging from 90% humidity and 110 degree day to a thunder and rainstorm afternoon, to a 3 foot snowstorm (doubt I would be able to drive in this though), to a 10% humidity day and 10 degrees. I have fuel choices available in my area ranging from E85 to Jet fuel (wife works at the local airport). ;)

What I can bring to the brand is exposure. I commute between San Diego and Murrieta every working day on one of the most traveled freeways in the country - Interstate 15. My 120 mile round trip commute will both provide an accelerated high mileage lifecycle test, as well as a maximum number of eyes on the vehicle. When I am not on a freeway, I commute in the densly packed Southern California area. Because of my commute, I have fully engrained the habit of "Hyper Mileing" in my diesel truck - which I will also use in the VV. By using controlled driving skills, and using the terrain to my advantage, I will be able to squeeze the maximum possible effeciency out of the vehicle in real world conditions. Put me behind the wheel and you will be able to claim 100+ mpg again!

If you want to see your family alive again, give me a V-1 to test... :-{D]

Hey Ya'll, I wouldn't mind being a test driver of the V-1 up here in New Hampshire. I would drive it through snow storms such as Nor-Easters as we get up here quite often. My tests would include to see how the hydraulic DVC would operate at very cold temps, to see if the battery pack(s) would hold up to the cold temps to. I would drive the V-1 right after they would salt and sand the roads to see how it would handle during the process of the leaning segments of the turns with the slipperiness of the sand that is usualy pushed to the middle of the lane. The other tests would include how fast and effecient the heating system works along the the rear window defroster which will put alot of strain on the battery packs. I would record the mpg numbers along with the recordings of the temp during that time.
My commute is only 15 miles one way so I would have the opportunity to see how the batteries would hold up that distance before the ICE kicks in if that is what they will be using. Just my two cents worth. Have Great Labor Day weekend. Russ
