Just to let you know there are a lot of alternatives for use and economy. The Tango: http://www.tangotrikes.com is one that they rent over by the beaches in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida. You can also see more about them (Pictures) at: http://www.mondialmotorusa.com/index_archivos/Page1163.htm
It may be small and simple but in todays economy with 60-70mpg and only $6,899.99 for the bigger engined one it is not bad. Then because of width it only takes an operator's license (no motorcycle endorsement needed). I am guessing at this though. I will check.

From their website:
RTM Tango is register as motorcycles and meets the NHTSA and DOT regulations, as well as EPA requirements. RTM Tango is a street legal vehicle and it’s recommended to check your local DMV on your states requirements for motorcycles.
I guess with the 50cc model it is in the 'moped' category and doesn't require a 'motorcycle endorsement'. Would not work very well as a beach rental if a 'M.E.' was required to drive/rent one. Now for the 200cc, you would need a M.E., at least in Florida.
Motorcycle License
The 200cc Tango is considered to be a MC. Florida residence will be able to take their skills test with their Tango instead of a motorcycle.
Tangos
50cc / 30 to 35 mph.
200cc / 45 to 50 mph.
300cc / 55 to 65+ mph.

Hardtime....GREAT FIND! I really love that little car. But for $6900 does the GIRL come with it? If so, I'M IN! 2thumb:up
I'm going to go take a closer look at that thing (the girl, not the car....wait. strike that and reverse it!). Thanks for posting.
Hey, I even like this little scooter. It reminds me of our VogueOne, except without the roof:

You know the thing that bugs me is why they don't put an engine in these things big enough to do the job with no questions asked, yet maintain fuel economy? For instance; If they would drop a 650cc engine in these that would work great! They could price them at $9000! AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE THEM FULLY ENCLOSED! I not saying they need to have heat and ac. but side windows would be nice!

I agree 100% with you. I wish they would make our VogueOne with at least a 250cc engine, but they don't. I really don't understand why they make all of these things with a 150cc, but I know they would sell a LOT better with a bigger engine.

They have a snap on windows like a ragtop. Also, they rent them over in the Beach area. At least they were going to let my wife drive one and she has no endorsement. I will further check into it. They were going to let her rent a "SunTrike" (http://www.suntrike.com/home.htm) from them a couple of years ago without an MC endorsement either. We almost did rent the trike out but the previous 6 renters kept them out all day. I guess they were two much fun to go with just the half day rental.

These, I would only consider as local commuters and not long haul transportation but I am sure there are some that would.

I am not talking about the velcro on or the snap on windows. I just want to see it integrated into the design like a normal roll down window! How hard is that!!! I mean they always make these things where you think man if only it had a little more power it would be perfect! Why is it so hard to figure out that you need to be 65-75 MPH to make these vehicles worth consideration!!!

I found out the catch to the Motorcycle endorsement reference the Tango. If it has an engine of 50cc or less no endorsement is needed. However, if it is larger such as the Tango with the 200cc motor (http://www.gekgo.com/3-wheel_rtm-tango_scooter_%20trikes.html) a Motorcycle endorsement is needed. That answers a lot of questions on that.

For more information and a few videos (of the 50cc) in action: http://www.tangotrikes.com/tango-car-media-news.php
The one at: http://beta.video.syndication.msn.com/v/Default.aspx?partner=en-ap&g=6cd47fe6-f88b-4946-8570-6dab5e72d686&f=FLPET actually you can see two together and hear the difference between the 50cc two-stroke and the bigger four-stroke engines. The second is the 50cc :-)
Gawd, they both sound horrible :)
A shame they're not electric...

Actually, they sound much worse on camera than they do in person. The camera was using a zoom mike which pulls in sound. It really pulls in little engine cam noise.

A shame they're not electric...Right!! i am going to see if you can order with no ice motor

Is this Tango from the same company?
http://commutercars.com/
This one looks like it was crushed between two Mack trucks :) If it wasn't for the batteries at the bottom of the car, I could see this thing tipping real easy!

That's what I was asking. The newer site I listed shows this as a Tango

Yes, I see, Mike kZ.
Btw, now we're discussing tilting vehicles, how many patents are there actually on the principle? How many companies each have their own (patented) version of a tilting platform? Now that the Carver has been unsuccessful, VandenBrink has been reported as trying to make good on their engineering and expertise. To my knowledge, BMW never paid any money to VandenBrink for their Clever concept vehicle or Nissan for their Land Glider for instance. Or am I mistaken. Anyone?
