"If you want to come back to the club, you are welcome back. I would LOVE to see you back contributing to the many discussions. You are incredibly intelligent, and you have a lot to offer. So if you want me to re-instate your username, then just give me the word. It's up to you." Derwin

Frankly, this would be a mistake.

This user was banned not suspended for grievous infractions--i.e., utter disregard for club policies, and a brazen lack of ...

"...RESPECT [for] the opinions of other people. Not too much to ask, is it? People were free (and still are free) to present their opinion on various subjects at the club. But we just want the discussion to be at a higher level. We don't want the discussion to degrade into name calling or putting the other person down. That's all the admins and mods of the club wanted. They also did not want the club turning into a "BASH VENTURE VEHICLE" society! We are ENTHUSIASTS over there, not naysayers."

Participation in this forum is a privilege, sadly this user has lost that privilege; the forum should be reserved for members who abide by their terms of service (TOS).

Considering byteware wasn't the 1st one to be banned, or reinstated, I find it curious that you would like to be the one to inform us that it would be a mistake to reinstate him. You're entitled to your opinion. So is Derwin and the rest of the admins and mods here.
Byteware got a little caught up in the passion of an argument that was turning personal, and he felt outgunned. He has shown in the thread from which you quote and in others made here just prior to his banishment that he is capable of playing by the rules, and presenting quite a cogent argument along the way.
I will cast my vote in the proper forum at the proper time if it comes to that.

Well, I guess the decision (again) has already been made for us by byteware himself. After accusing me of "attempting to win arguments using my admin powers", he posted this at the company forum:

It certainly is your forum, and you are entitled to run it however you want. However, that is not something I will ever sit back and be quiet about. So it's better for everyone, if I just stay banned.

So, RAN, I think it's wrong to assume that he has suddenly changed his stripes, and will now abide by club rules, since it's obvious that he has no intention of doing so. He falsly accuses me of using my admin powers in his case, which I did not. What happened to him was decided upon by the admin/mods.

At any rate, I think I agree with randi, along with byteware, about leaving things as they are. If byteware himself does not want to come back, and really is not open to abiding by club policy, then what else is there to say? I made what I think was a gracious offer, and he turned it down.

If he still feels that way, then you're right. I still think it was nice of you to make the offer. :-{)]
