AZ: Looks great. :D The only thing I noticed was when using analog gauges the needle seemed very jumpy. I wonder if that was system refresh time or display refresh time. I hope that this can be fixed so that the movement is more "real time" for use as a primary vehicle display.:(

Joe,
I think the jumpy part was just some marketing guys attempt to show movement with poor editing. If you look at the part after the GPS they show some drag racing and the analog simulation was very smooth. The graph sampling was very smooth as well and was tracking more info so this would IMO go along with my prior conclusions.

It will be interesting to see what VV comes up with.

I thought for a 3rd party add on this unit was very trick and Open Linux leads to less expensive since you don't have extra royalties to dish out. And could provide some extra ideas for the VV team.

I have actually seen these in use and they look fairly good. The displays are crisp.

IMHO though they do not blend too well with actual dash setups and they look a little bit crowded. They ones I have seen have been mounted on windshields much like a lot of people mount their GPS-Navs units. They really do not appear to compliment anything when mounted next to something.

I do realize we are referencing mounting them in the dash but it is just an observation of what I have seen. They are good for the vehicles that originally had only idiot or "Looky, your car is already broke", lights

I like the concept... but the screen doesn't seem to be large enough to display analog-type gauges that I could actually see lol. And yes, my vision has been better than it is now.

RAN, since it is 'user customized' you could have your primary data source fill the entire screen, or scan different parameters and only display ONE large gauge at a time (might make you dizzy though.
I like the idea, but this system is designed around standard ICE technology and would have to be adapted to a series hybrid with an ICE generator. Could be done, but again it takes time and money, worth looking into.
If this technology is incorporated into the V-1, I'm sure that they would use a much larger primary screen, and perhaps this size for GPS or secondary information display.

I like the idea of it being part of the oem gauges. A sort of built in design. This would be awesome especially if they could combine it with a hud display!

Now add this to the navigation section of the console and you've got a winner. Sorry about it being a link but it won't work through the quicktime vbCode.

Truly amazing! :p
I finally broke down and bought my FIRST add-on automobile navigation system (during the Black Friday sales). It is astounding that they can place so much information (the whole US road system + service facilities, POI's, etc.) and talking capability in a battery powered device that is smaller than my wallet.
I remember using a 'slide rule' in college, and when the first 4-function (+,-,*, /) hand-held calculators with 'memory recall' came out and cost $200.
Now the same capability is $1 at 'Dollar Tree'!

Yep, all they have to do is add the 'tilt stabilization' option, to keep the displayed 'picture' level with the horizon during turns/tilts.:RADAR:;)

Hopefully we will get to view the 'Interior Concepts' when they are released "SHORTLY" to see if Vv is going with old analog gauge clusters, or digital screen/s. May also get some indication on the type of steering wheel / yoke, airbag, and other dash layout / switches. (Sure HOPE they have made some of those decisions by now.:o)

I just hope they have the hud option!

I hope they have a HUD too, but have serious doubts.
