I just received this update from Ben Werner...
Hi Derwin,
As promised, I'm giving you a heads up of our new release on YouTube, my pitch to investors:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_-6TciOdg0
This is not the kind of material we would normally share with the public, but again, it is an honest disclosure of where we are as a company, and may interest some members of your club.
All the Best,
Ben
Here is the video with Ben speaking....

Wow! Ben's "heads up" agreement with you IS genuine. I'm sure impressed with that.
If THIS doesn't show that Ben Werner really does see a value to be had from the FTRC site members interest in the Dagne vehicle, I can't imagine what would. That is some seriously inside information, which as Ben says would not normally be shared with the public. I personally would consider this a HUGE compliment to FTRC! :)
Hearing that $40M number sure helps me to understand (or not) better where VV might actually be in their progress towards completion. Assuming of course that that figure might represent the level of funding that NGEN has tentatively commited to VV, and there is of course no way any of us would know that, it would indicate that the current $6M funding to VV is only a small portion of that required to get to market with the production vehicle.
That would indicate (maybe) that VV is less than 1/4 of the way along. I could be understanding this all wrong, and there is a substantial amount of dollars needed past the production point that I'm not taking into account.
o:o:p:s12 That will probably start some whole new thread of speculative dialog! Sorry.
Let me just thank Ben Werner for the info and keep my mouth shut.
Jack, I agree with you. agr:1 Some are visionaries and others dreamers. no:wor:thy1

Looks like this is only a one day heads-up. Revolution Motors has a story and links to all their videos today at autobloggreen.

Looks like this is only a one day heads-up.
I didn't expect that they would be giving us information a month, or even a week, ahead of time. When he told me that we would be getting a "heads-up" on updates, I suspected it would be a day, or even just a couple hours, ahead of making it public elsewhere.

Well that was interesting to say the least! I think the guy has a good chance I wish him the best! I just would like to see them change the name, Dagne sounds like a joint ailment.
" Well it looks like I am going to have that knee replacement surgery. They say that my knees have become riddled with dagne and if I don't get it soon I won't be able to walk."
To me it just doesn't sound right for a "Revolution"ary vehicle.

C'mon, fella's, be nice!
The name “Dagne” is adapted from the name of the heroine in Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged", who, in her struggle to reconcile personal self interest with the greater good of the community, discovers that a path exists for each of us that serves both. “Dagne” is Norwegian in origin and means "New Day".
I have to admit, though, that I really don't care much for the name. But is the Venture Vehicles Urban Life Vehicle (ULV) any better?
Good grief, you would think that these companies could come up with a good name for a revolutionary vehicle. Heck, that would be tops on my list if I were running the company!

Sorry Derwin. That was just TOO funny!
"Urban Life Vehicle" is SO dumb. And V1 IS looking for a new name.
Derwin

I guess I must have missed the *official* statement that they are looking for a new name. Where and when was this stated? Was it since they posted the ULV name?

I like Venture Flyte as well. Gives an image as well as good roll off the tongue.
Flyte's on the list. We'll be wrapping this up thread soon, so get your final suggestions in now. Again, my thanks to everyone who's posted here.

That was over 3 months ago, and since that date Venture Vehicles has posted the new name of Urban Life Vehicle (ULV). I think that ULV *is* the name that they have settled on.

I'm hoping that "Urban Life Vehicle" is a name they came up with for the class of vehicle... and that they will still be choosing a name for the V1.

Yeah, you could be correct. But it's just a funny thing that Ian's last post on this subject was over 3 months ago, and he said that they were pretty much wrapping things up. Then now in the past week or so we see this new terminology being used for the vehicle.
I hope your right. But, actually, a rose by any other name would smell as sweat!
Derwin
Hopefully you meant sweet not sweat!

No. I love the smell of sweat! o:h"we"ll1
Yet another typo fixed.

Sorry I wasn't trying to be rude, I just don't care for the name. I know where it came from I just don't like it! I was trying to demonstrate the kind of mind set it presents when you hear it.

MM89,
Nobody thought you were rude. Most of us have been saying that they could have done a lot better job with the name, if that is indeed the final name.

It is. Note this paragraph...
The VentureOne concept is a new class of vehicle for the urbanation of America and the most compelling and enjoyable way to join the new "Urban Nation." And what better way to join than driving an Urban Life Vehicle (ULV).That is the page under the button that reads [The VentureOne] and the rest of the page continues to refer to it as VentureOne.
So, the VentureOne is still the VentureOne, and the Dagne is still the Dagne.

To Jack,
The only heads-up we gave on my investor pitch video was to FlytheRoadClub. I have no idea how autobloggreen got it so fast :)

I would not rule out that maybe AutoBlogGreen simply read about it here.
Which, actually, is kinda cool.cool:thu:mb1

Hmmm. Now this club has become a source for AutoBlogGreen? Very interesting, and exciting, if true!
By the way, that is the name for their new class of vehicle. I don't know how I missed that. So the actual new name for the *vehicle* is yet to be determined, or at least revealed, I guess.
Hey, should we move the discussion about the VV name over to a VV forum? Since this is the Revolution Motors forum, maybe it could confuse people? I'm not sure. What do you think?

Interesting pitch. Handsome devil, too. That never hurts. People don't tend to want to lend money to ugly people.
Two things I think should have been different: the backdrop and a camera aimed at the interviewer. I kept thinking that the curtain should have been ironed before that interview, or better still, replaced with something bearing the name of Ben's company. I was glad, however, that in the ten-minute interview, he didn't sob and clutch the curtain and beg us to "leave Brittany alone!" I also would have liked to have seen what the interviewer looked like. The stark background, coupled with the interrogative nature of the dialog, just reminded me of those terrorist videos circulating the Internet.
I did find it interesting that he kept referring to the "Dagne" as "she." Anyone else pick up on that?

And we thank you for that Ben. Interesting thought that autobloggreen might have gotten the info and video here. It would be even more interesting if that and our new forum on the Dagne perhaps inspired them to put together that article on the Dagne along with all of the videos! That would be significant. 2thumb:up
As I have said, this forum site is much more robust in features and easier to read than the RM or FTR forums. It is more enjoyable to read and participate here.
Yes Derwin, it would make sense for you to talk about the VV name in a VV forum. Although I must admit that it will always be difficult for us to keep the Dagne and the VentureOne discussions separate. They will be direct competitors for the same consumer market and comparing the two different vehicles will be unavoidable.
