Now is the time to make a difference. Show Veterans you care. Share sometime with the troops. Thank the military personnel and their families for all the sacrifices they make.

This is for my father who passed to the other side last March. He served in the US Army for 28 years and is at a VA cemetary near Phoenix, AZ. I'm thinking of you.

And, for my stepson who is currently serving in the US Army, so far just stateside. Hope it stays that way.

I've already done my time in Viet Nam.

Please bring the rest of our troops home soon, and NOT in boxes.

Did anyone else see how Canada greets their returning servicepeople that come back in a box? It was on Nighty News last night. They line up on bridges and along the road for a hundred miles to salute and wave their flags at the family as they pass by on this 100 mile trip down the Road of Heros! Now THAT"S a heartfelt tribute!

Since today is a solemn day to remember and honor those who fought and are still fighting for us, I thought I would give mention to those in my family who gave their blood...

I honor my Uncle John who fought in WWII. He was one of many troops who landed on the beaches of Normandy. He lost his left arm in that battle, and almost lost his life. He was only 19 years old at the time, and the military sent his mother and father a letter stating that he was "slightly wounded". Well, he just passed on 2 years ago, but I remember sitting with him and listening to him tell his WWII story. An amazing story of survival.

Also, I have a nephew, Mark, who bravely served in Iraq, and was injured.

To those in my family, and to all those brave souls across our great country, I honor you and thank you for giving us the freedom we so often take for granted.

As a 23 yr vet, I can tell you there is nothing I appreciate more than someone who takes a second to thank a soldier in uniform.

The "Support Our Troops" organization does great work. Can't tell you how much it means to receive a "care package" when you are in some conflict.

Jack great job.
I'm a Nam-Vet myself. In 1966 I joined the USMC. I was given a 50 cent piece by a vet in WWII and was asked to hold on to it till the day I got out and buy a beer with it. He said that a vet for WWI did it for him,and he was passing this tradition on to me. I have given three 50 cent pieces over the years telling these fine young men to keep the tradition going.
